It is hard to believe we are already heading into October! We are well into the academic work of the school year, and our Justice Giants have been working hard, growing, learning, and showing us what they can do.
The end of the first quarter is Friday, Oct. 9, and report cards will be sent home before fall break. As we approach the end of the quarter, this is a great time to check in on your student’s progress. Please reach out to your child’s teachers with any questions or concerns about grades, missing work, or ways we can work together to support your student.
ILEARN Checkpoint 1: Oct. 12-13
Our students will take ILEARN Checkpoint 1 on Monday, Oct. 12, and Tuesday, Oct. 13. Testing will take place in the morning, so it is extremely important that students are at school and on time both days.
Our students have worked so hard to prepare, and we would love for our families to join us in building them up and reminding them just how capable they are. Encourage your Giant to come in confident, take their time, and simply give their best effort. They don’t have to know everything — we just need them to show us what they know!
Checkpoint testing gives us valuable information about what students have learned and, just as importantly, where they still need support. Their best effort gives our teachers the clearest picture of what each student needs so we can continue teaching, supporting, and preparing them before the summative ILEARN assessment this spring.
Math Is SUPER! - Title I Family Night
Save the date for our first Title I Family Night from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29!
Our theme is Math Is SUPER!, and we are bringing a little superhero fun to Justice! We will celebrate with themed dress-up days throughout the week and finish with an evening of family fun and math activities. More information about the week’s activities will be coming soon!
Oct. 26-30 is also Red Ribbon Week, when we will encourage our Giants to make healthy choices and take the pledge to live drug free. Our message fits perfectly with our superhero week: Make a Difference. Be a Hero. Stay Drug Free.
There are so many great things happening at Justice, and we are excited about everything ahead. Thank you for continuing to partner with us, encourage your students, and support the work happening each day. When our families and school work together, our Giants are capable of incredible things.
We look forward to continuing this year together as we Unlock Our Potential as GIANTS!
