We are so excited to welcome our students and families to a new school year at Justice Intermediate School! It is wonderful to have our Giants back in the building, learning routines, reconnecting with friends, meeting teachers, and getting started with learning.
This year, our theme is Unlock Your Potential, and that is exactly what we want for every student who walks through our doors. Intermediate school is an important time for students to discover what they are capable of, grow in independence, learn from mistakes, take on new challenges, and continue becoming the best version of themselves. We are excited about what is ahead!
As we begin our first full week, we are ready to settle into the school year. Teachers will continue reinforcing routines and expectations while students dive deeper into their learning. Sports, clubs, and other opportunities for students to get involved will also begin soon. We will make announcements for students at school and share important information, dates, and opportunities with families through ParentSquare, so please continue to watch for updates.
Communication & Partnership
One of the best ways we can support students is by working together. I encourage you to maintain open communication with your student's teachers throughout the year. Ask questions, share concerns, and celebrate successes with us! Please don't hesitate to reach out to me or our assistant principal, Mr. James Reed, if there is ever something we can help with. We want families to know that you have partners here at Justice.
Breakfast & Lunch ID
This year, we will continue to use the IDconnect® finger identification system when accessing their breakfast and lunch accounts. The system connects a student's ID number to their finger, helping our cafeteria lines move more quickly while improving the security and accuracy of student meal accounts. Students don't have to remember a number or keep track of a card.
We also want families to understand how the system protects student privacy. IDconnect® does not store a fingerprint or biometric image. During enrollment, the system takes measurements from the student's finger and converts them into an encrypted digital code used only to confirm a match. The measurements themselves are not stored and cannot be used to recreate a fingerprint. Information is maintained securely on the school's local network and protected through encryption and password security.
5th grade students will complete the quick, one-time enrollment process at school at the end of the week, and staff will be available to help them learn the new routine. If you want your student to be exempt from this process, please let your student's homeroom teacher know by Thursday, Aug. 13.
