As we approach the end of our first grading period on Oct. 10, I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible hard work and growth our students have shown so far this year. Their dedication to learning, teamwork, and making positive choices is truly something to be proud of!
A big thank you to all families who attended our Parent-Teacher Conferences. We appreciate the time you took to connect with teachers and support your child’s progress. If you were unable to attend or ever wish to schedule a meeting, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s homeroom teacher or the school office. We are always eager to partner with our families to ensure every child thrives.
This month, students will participate in ILEARN Checkpoint 1 testing to help teachers understand how to best support each learner’s growth.
- 5th grade testing: Oct. 13-17
- 6th grade testing: Oct. 27-31
To help your child feel confident and ready for testing, here are a few simple tips:
- Make sure your child gets plenty of rest each night.
- Provide a healthy breakfast to fuel their brain for learning.
- Arrive on time each morning so your child can start the day calm and focused.
- Offer encouragement — remind them to take their time and do their best!
We’re also excited to invite you to our Title I Family Literacy Night: “Reading is Sweet!” from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15. Come join us for an evening of fun, reading activities, and treats! Our Scholastic Book Fair will be open during the event — and throughout the week — so families can shop for new reads together.
To add some extra color to the week, we’ll celebrate with Literacy Dress-Up Days:
- Monday (10/13): Blue
- Tuesday (10/14): Green
- Wednesday (10/15): Red
- Thursday (10/16): Yellow
- Friday (10/17): Orange
We can’t wait to see our halls filled with bright colors, smiling faces, and a love for reading!
I thank you for your continued support and partnership in the education of all of our students. This is our time to Grow as GIANTS, and we continue to dedicate our time and energy to this task. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.
