News Blog Category - News Did you know Marion High School has a spirit shop? If you're looking for the perfect gift for the Marion Giants fan or student in your life, look no further!

Come out to the MHS spirit shop on Dec. 13 or 14 between 3 and 7 p.m. and pick out the perfect gift! The Marion High School Alumni Association will be staffing the shop during these times.

Proceeds help fund the many ways MHSAA helps to support Marion High School and Marion Community Schools. (They've given tens of thousands of dollars directly to school and extracurricular programs over the past few years, and they've raised more than $200,000 for the Giant Dreams Endowments at the Community Foundation of Grant County to help provide for the needs of Giants today and long into the future!)

If you can't come to the shop, you can place orders for some of the gear online: www.mhsalum.com/giants-spirit-shop. (NOTE: Delivery may not be guaranteed before Christmas. Please contact the individual printers for more information.)

News Blog Category - News Marion Community Schools is proud to announce that choir students from three of our schools have earned a spot on the 2018 IMEA All-State Honor Choirs.

Congratulations to Myles Kohn, a sophomore at Marion High School, Mia de las Alas, an eighth-grader at McCulloch Junior High School, and to Justice Intermediate School students Caleb Huff, a fifth-grader, and Emily Luckey, a sixth-grader, on this outstanding achievement!

Myles is the first MHS choral student in recent years to have earned a spot in the IMEA All-State Honor Choir. Mia joins a tradition of excellence at McCulloch; this is the fourth year in a row choir students from the school have been selected to the IMEA All-State Junior High Honor Choir. Caleb and Emily are making history as the first Justice Intermediate students to ever audition for the IMEA Elementary Honor Choir, and the first Justice students selected for the choir.

Students submit a recorded audition in the fall, which is then evaluated by three judges and compared against hundreds of other students from across the state. This is an elite group, as each of the honor choirs includes only about 150 singers, some of the best in the state.

The choirs will gather together for two days of rehearsal on Jan. 11 and 12, and then will be featured as guest performers at the IMEA professional development conference. The elementary and junior high students will perform on Jan. 12 at the Grand Wayne Embassy Theater in Fort Wayne, and the high school students will perform there on Jan. 13.

The All-State Honor Choir is a great opportunity for these talented students, and will give them the chance to learn and grow as musicians. We are so proud of all three of these students, and their teacher, Christina Huff!
